Driving Robust Tech Transfer in Biologics: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation

Biopharmaceutical development requires a clear understanding of how process conditions affect product quality. For therapeutic antibodies, preserving biological activity—such as antigen binding and effector functions—depends on precise control of cell culture environments. Traditional scale-up metrics like power per volume (P/V), however, often fall short when processes are transferred across facilities or equipment scales.
In this webinar, we will demonstrate how Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) provides actionable insights into hydrodynamic and mass transfer environments that directly impact critical quality attributes (CQAs). By modeling key process attributes (KPAs)—including mixing, shear stress, and oxygen transfer, CFD strengthens the Quality by Design (QbD) framework and improves process robustness. Case studies will illustrate how CFD accelerates tech transfer and supports “what-if” scenario analyses, enabling more informed decision-making and streamlined process development.
