SoCalBio Conference on Tapping Non-Dilutive Funding

July 29, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Non-dilutive funding refers to financing that does not require selling or giving away equity to raise capital. Therefore, it does not result in the dilution of the existing company owners. Examples include commercial loans, profit-sharing arrangements, foundation grants, and government SBIR & STTR grants.

This meeting will focus primarily on the latter type of non-dilutive funding, i.e., SBIR & STTR grants for biotech, Medtech, and digital health companies. The primary source of these grants is government institutions such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Department of Energy (DoE).

join us for this conference to learn how to tap SBIR/STTR funding from NIH and the DoD funding to support your firm’s research. In this workshop you will learn about:

  • Identifying the right agency to apply to
  • How various grant programs are structured
  • Submission guidelines
  • Writing a successful grant proposal
  • Examples for successful proposal writing
  • Solicitation open and closing dates
  • Grant review process
  • How award decisions are made
  • What is expected of your company after the research is completed
  • Meeting government accounting requirements

Who should attend:

  • Anyone planning on submitting an SBIR/STTR proposal in the next 12 months
  • Individuals interested in learning enough about government funding programs to determine if they are interested in pursuing future submissions
