QB3 Webinar: Christopher Garcia, Stanford

February 23 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Natural and Engineered Cell Surface Receptor-Ligand Interactions in Human Health and Disease

About this event
Christopher Garcia is interested in cell surface receptors and their ligands. Garcia and his team at Stanford investigate how ligand recognition and signaling coordinate with the cell physiology to determine function and fate. In addition to understanding basic aspects of receptor signaling and structure, the team uses protein engineering to create novel receptor ligands. A major aim of their work is to leverage natural signaling mechanisms as a path to potential therapeutics. Garcia has founded or co-founded several companies, including ALXO (SIRP/CD7 antagonist), Synthekine (cytokine engineering), Surrozen (Wnt agonists), 3T (TCR antigen discovery), and Mozart (immune modulation by regulatory T cells).
